Play isn’t just about physical exercise anymore. Now more than ever consumers are eager to up the ante with a gamified aspect. Building in a competitive feature also serves as a perfect way to age up play areas, attracting a broader demographic.

The next big trend you’re going to see more and more of is weaving storylines into play areas through theming. This elevated play experience creates a captivating narrative for families to step into, deepening both their connection to the experience and their desire to come back.

Another big aspect of theming will be bringing popular branded characters to life, similar to what we created with Bugs Bunny and the rest of the Looney Tunes crew.

The landscape for play areas is only going to increase as retailers aim to entice shoppers back to their venues. Many retail venues that have never considered allocating space to play will carve out small sections of their store to keep small kids entertained while parents shop.

We’re predicting you’ll soon see small play areas featuring popular licensed characters begin to sprout up.
